What We Do
Our Mission
The Tapp Middle School Counseling mission is to provide all students with equal access to a standards-based, comprehensive School Counseling program which empowers them with skills to become self-directed learners and grow into productive citizens. This mission encompasses preparation of all students for academic success, rewarding and meaningful lives in an ever-changing society.
How we support students
Tapp MS Counselors work in collaboration with parents, teachers, and the community to assist in the growth and development of students as they progress through school. Also, they work with students in the areas of academic, personal/social, and career development to help students gain the greatest benefit from their school experience.
As your Tapp MS School Counselors, our goal is to provide all students with opportunities for positive growth experiences through either individual support, small groups, or classroom lessons. Small counseling groups are offered throughout the year for students that need additional academic/personal/social support. Parents who have concerns about their student(s) may contact their grade level counselor.
We are here for you!
What We Provide
Individual Counseling
School counselors offer individual counseling to assist students’ with a variety of personal/social, academic, and career needs. Counseling sessions are kept confidential unless students disclose they are being harmed, harming others, or are wanting to harm themselves.
Group Counseling
School counselors offer short-term, goal-focused small group counseling to help students gain life skills, find social support through healthy peer relationships, and to overcome issues that impact school performance. Counselors receive referrals from teachers, parents, and administrators.
Core Classroom
Curriculum
School counselors offer structured lessons designed to help students acquire competencies and to provide all students with the knowledge, attitudes, and skills appropriate for their developmental level. The school counselor's core curriculum aligns with the ASCA National Model.
Responsive Services
School counselors provide support for a student's mental health and social/emotional well-being. Counselors intervene on behalf of those students whose immediate personal concerns or problems put their continued personal-social, career and/or educational development at risk.
....and so much more!
